What affects the cost of IT support?
Five things set the price of managed IT support for a small or medium-sized business:
- Number of users. Plans are priced per person who uses a computer or work email, with a monthly minimum per plan for very small teams. Teams of 10 or more pay lower rates on a 12-month agreement.
- Level of security. Endpoint detection, email filtering, backup and MFA add cost, and remove most of the common causes of a breach.
- Compliance obligations. Care providers, healthcare services and law firms need documented evidence, not just working IT.
- Onsite needs. Most support is remote. Onsite attendance is available where required.
- Out-of-hours cover. Standard support runs Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Guaranteed evening and weekend cover is an optional extra.
IT support pricing for regulated businesses
The plan you need depends on who checks your data security.
Home care and care homes
CQC-registered providers in England are expected to complete the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) every year, and CQC looks at data security under the Well Led key question. The IT + Security + Compliance plan provides the technical evidence. The rest of the DSPT, such as paper records and staff practice, stays with the provider, and we tell you which parts are yours at the start.
Healthcare, clinics and dental
Organisations with access to NHS patient information or systems need the DSPT, and patient data needs MFA, backup and audit trails that stand up to scrutiny. Most clinics start on IT + Security and move to the Compliance plan when an NHS contract or inspection requires it.
Law firms
Professional indemnity insurers and referral panels increasingly ask about cyber controls, and Cyber Essentials is a common requirement. The Compliance plan keeps that evidence current all year.
Accountants and bookkeepers
Client financial data and HMRC agent access make firms a target for phishing and account takeover. IT + Security covers the controls most practices need.
Cyber Essentials changed in April 2026. Under the current requirements, missing multi-factor authentication on a cloud service, or leaving high-risk and critical updates uninstalled for more than 14 days, is an automatic fail. Every Guard IQ security plan covers both.

How much does IT support cost per user per month?
At Guard IQ, managed IT support costs from £45 per user per month for Core IT, from £55 for IT + Security and from £85 for IT + Security + Compliance. Each plan has a monthly minimum, so very small teams pay a flat fee. Use the calculator on this page for an estimate for your team.
How much does IT support cost for a 10-person business?
A 10-person business pays from £450 a month on Core IT, from £550 on IT + Security and from £850 on IT + Security + Compliance, before Microsoft 365 licences.
Do you offer discounts for larger teams?
Yes. On a 12-month agreement, teams of 10 or more get 5% off, teams of 25 or more get 10% off, and teams of 50 or more get 15% off. Standard rates apply to rolling monthly agreements.
Do your prices include Microsoft 365 licences?
No. Microsoft 365 licences are billed separately by Microsoft. We manage and support them as part of every plan.
Will you complete our DSPT for us?
We provide the technical evidence for the Data Security and Protection Toolkit, such as MFA, backup, patching, device security and restore testing. The DSPT also covers paper records, staff training and information sharing, which remain the provider’s responsibility. We confirm in writing which parts we cover before we start.
Can you help us get Cyber Essentials?
Yes. Cyber Essentials support is included in the IT + Security + Compliance plan. For businesses on other plans, certification is quoted separately.
What are your support hours?
Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, excluding UK public holidays. Critical issues have a 1 hour response target. Guaranteed evening and weekend cover is available as an add-on.
Do you provide onsite IT support?
Yes, where required, across North West London, Central London and Hertfordshire. Most issues are resolved remotely, which is faster for you.
Is the calculator price final?
No. The calculator gives an estimate based on your answers. Your final price is confirmed in writing after a free 30-minute consultation, and it can be lower once we have seen your setup, for example if some staff or devices need less cover than you counted.
